A 31-year-old man was sentenced to 11 years in jail for sexual violence against a teenage girl in the municipality of Chisinau last autumn. Prosecutors intend to appeal the sentence as too mild, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor General’s Office said that the young man was at his partner’s home together with a girl of a young age who was in the temporary care of the woman. He committed violent acts of a sexual character against the girl.

Recently, the Buiucani Court of Chisinau decided that the man will serve 11 years in a closed-type prison. The sentence is not yet definitive and can be challenged in the Chisinau Appeals Court within 15 days.
