In the Year of Dumitru Matcovschi, students from a number of Chisinau education institutions celebrated the writer. The Chisinau General Division of Education, Youth and Sport had held a contest themed “Dumitru Matcovschi as a pillar of our national dignity” since the start of this year. The Gala of Laureates of the contest took place on March 22, IPN reports.

Students from Chisinau sang songs on verses written by the great bard as well as sons with historical and patriotic themes. The contest “Dumitru Matcovschi as a pillar of our national dignity” forms part of the Division’s activities scheduled for this year.

Attending the Gala of Laureates, deputy head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Valentina Cujba said all the performances touched her soul as they reminded her of Dumitru Matcovschi. She voiced hope that the Division by this contest managed to motivate the young people to study the works of the great poet.

The gala included the literary presentation “Destiny” and the literary-musical presentation “Dumitru Matcovschi - poet and fortress man”.
