The repair works on the Ferapontievca- Avdarma road in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia are likely to begin this year. A sum of 15 million lei is to be allocated for the purpose. The subject was discussed in the joint meeting of the Cabinet and representatives of the Executive Committee and the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, IPN reports.

Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Iurie Chirinciuc said that this sum will be enough at the initial stage and will be used to ensure traffic security on the two bridges located on this road segment. The road is to be rehabilitated in two stages. The money could be allocated from the National Regional Development Fund and or partially from this Fund and the Road Fund.

The Governor of Gagauzia Irina Vlah said the approach to making investment from the state budget in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia should be changed. The volume of investments per capita in the region is much lower than in some of the districts, such as Cahul, Hancesti and Cantemir, at a time when Gagauzia includes three districts with a much larger population.

A plan of action to improve the socioeconomic situation in Gagauzia for 2016 – 2019 was approved in the meeting. This will be detailed on areas and coordinated with the Gagauz authorities.
