The women who develop businesses can receive up to 600,000 lei in state support. This is provided in the new program to support female entrepreneurship which was approved by the Cabinet on Friday, IPN reports.
Under the program, the female entrepreneurs who will start new businesses will be entitled to up to 200,000 lei in grant funding, while those who intend to develop the business will get up to 600,000 lei. The program also includes the “e-commerce” package to support the development of electronic trade – 30,000 lei for new businesses and 50,000 lei for developing businesses.
“The independence and economic empowerment of women are essential for realizing women’s rights and ensuring gender equality. The women must equally participate in the labor market and in entrepreneurial activities,” said Deputy Prime Minister Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economy
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, more women (90.3%) than men (82.3%) manage micro enterprises primarily in such areas as retail trade, services and the hospitality industry.
