Winter holidays in Chisinau will be launched on Dec. 1

The winter holidays in the capital city will be started as usual, on December 1, with the inauguration of the Christmas tree downtown. The tree started to be set up in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral, behind the Triumphal Arch. The Christmas town will be inaugurated also there. The inauguration ceremony starts at 5:15pm, IPN reports.

In a news conference, mayor general Ion Ceban said that emphasis this year was placed on the laying out of areas in Chisinau. The decorations will be supplemented. In districts, a number of areas will be adorned with trees and winter decorations. The alleys and squares and the main streets will be garlanded as the people are tired of the pandemic and need a holiday atmosphere.

The City Hall allows and urges the business entities to decorate the areas near the buildings they own or rent. The places where Christmas bazaars will be set up in Chisinau were identified. A number of trolleybuses will be decorated and the Christmas Caravan will set off.

In the central square or in the square of the Metropolitan Cathedral, the municipality will place a carousel with different fairytale characters. A skating rink could be set up.

On the night between years, the recreational program will be staged on Teleradio Moldova. Access to the central square of Chisinau will not be restricted, but recreational activities there will be not mounted.

The costs will be covered by district heads’ offices or divisions. The Government refused to take part or to contribute somehow, said the mayor.

The detailed program of cultural-artistic events is available on the City Hall’s website.
