Winegrowing is the only sector to report profit this year
The winegrowing is the only sector that will make profit following this year’s severe drought, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Anatolie Gorodenco told Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Moldova Valery Kuzmin at a meeting.
The two officials met to discuss the resumption of Moldovan wine exports to Russia, which will help overcome the crisis in Moldova. Valery Kuzmin assured that the Republic of Moldova can count on the Russian Embassy’s support in finding a quick solution to the given problem.
The discussions centred on the unblocking of pork exports to Russia, the identification of a solution for resuming wine exports, the diversification of Russian investments in Moldova.
The Russian investment in Moldova’s agrifood sector was another topic for discussion. The intensive technologies for growing highly productive sorts, including ecological, the cooperation in processing vegetal and animal products are the directions with the biggest chances, but they require investment, Gorodenco said.
Moldova’s exports of agrifood products to Russia over January-July 2007 totalled 48.2 mln USD or by 35.4% less than in the corresponding period last year owing to smaller deliveries of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
