It will be possible to build wind farms, biogas plants and battery energy storage systems on agricultural land. It will be possible after the adoption of a project in this regard, which MP Radu Marian has announced, IPN reports.

The head of the committee for economy and finance wrote in a post on social networks that the amendment, coordinated with the Ministry of Energy, will strengthen the state's energy security. Specifically, according to Radu Marian, it will increase the production of green energy and several important projects will be unblocked immediately.

The biggest barrier mentioned by investors, when they want to install wind turbines, is the process of changing the use of agricultural land, which consumes a lot of time and resources, explains the MEP, explaining the need for the amendment.

Incidentally, a similar law passed in 2021 allows the installation of solar panels on agricultural land, which has led to an 8-fold increase in renewable production, especially with solar panels.

At the same time, the advantage of wind turbines is that they have a higher generation profile compared to solar panels, as they generate electricity at night and in winter, Radu Marian added.

Other advantages, which the MEP points out, are lower bills in the future and a cleaner environment in the country.
