Moldovan weightlifter Iurii Dudoglo became European vice champion at the competition that is taking place in Croatia. In the 56 kg class, he was defeated by Italy’s Mirco Scarantino, who lifted a total of 266 kg, by 5 kg more than Dudoglo, IPN reports.
Iurii Dudoglo ranked first in clean and jerk with 146 kg and second in snatch with 115 kg. In the 2016 European championship held in Norway, he finished third in clean and jerk.
In this year’s competition, Moldova is also represented by Oleg Sirghi, Sergiu Cechir, Andrei Birca, Alexandru Spac and Natalia Prishchepa. The European championships in Croatia end on April 8.
