"We prepared for worst scenario." Rosian Vasiloi about first day of war in Ukraine

New revelations about authorities' decisions following the outbreak of the war in Ukraine have appeared. The former head of the Border Police Rosian Vasiloi confessed that on the night of February 24, 2022, when the Russian military aggression in the neighboring state began, the border guards of the Republic of Moldova were placed on alert, at 04:50 a.m. Vasiloi said he found out about the military actions in Luhansk region an hour earlier, thanks to his close cooperation with the Ukrainian Border Guard Service, according to Nastoyashchee Vremya, a project of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and Voice of America, IPN reports.

The former chief of the Border Police said that, at that moment, no one even thought that they would refuse to leave. "We didn't know where we were going and if we would return, but all left. We prepared for the worst scenario, but a number of scenarios were being analyzed," said Rosian Vasiloi.

He added that the teams under his command set off for Odessa region, ready to militarily confront the Russian aggressor state.
