One of the MPs who initiated the reformation of the Liberal Party said that by such a move they aimed to do a service to the party as they reached a limit. MP Valeriu Saharneanu made related statements in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV.
“Today our parties are like Ltds. There is a certain discomfort in the PL and we felt like pieces that were moved from place to place and sometimes insulted,” said Saharneanu. According to him, the PL’s discourse in the person of Ghimpu is non-European and the Liberal leader says many stupid things in the country and abroad. Saharneanu does not want Mihai Ghimpu’s actions to represent him and the leader of the PL should apologize to all those that he insulted.
The PL’s deputy chairman Valeriu Munteanu said the steps taken on April 12 were premeditated and wouldn’t have been taken if Vlad Filat hadn’t been proposed for premiership. “I hope that many of my colleagues will realize that they made a mistake and will come back. The Liberal Party is not only Ghimpu’s party. There is also life at other levels,” he stated.
Valeriu Saharnenu said rumours that Dorin Chirtoaca was to be named as leader of the PL and that he was better prepared than Ghimpu started to be disseminated in 2010. He believes that the Communists may return to power owing to the inconsistency of the parties of the former AEI.
Valeriu Munteanu said the decision of the PL’s National Council to exclude the members of the Council for Reforming the Liberal Party from the party remains unchanged and they will not support Vlad Filat.
