War veterans to benefit from treatment at specialized hospital

As of this October, the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection will be responsible for the specialized treatment of war veterans. A Public Council involving veterans will be set up at the hospital to ensure transparency in the activity and provide the necessary medical assistance. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip during a visit to the Clinical Hospital on September 4, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Ministry that now also manages the former hospital of Moldova’s Railways has a number of treatment and rehabilitation sections with a capacity of 85 stationary places.

During the visit, the Premier remarked on the luxury seen in a ward of the former hospital of Moldova’s Railways. This included a marble bed, a shower cubicle with telephone and expensive carpets.

“This is simply disrespect. When Moldova’s Railways has salary arrears and this hospital has always been underfinanced, we see that money is invested where it should not be. This money could be used to buy one bathtub or even three bathtubs and another equipment for procedures. This area is used absolutely impractically and is nothing else but a remnant of the Soviet period when it was believed that the chiefs should stay separately,” stated Pavel Filip.

In this connection, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection that recently took over the hospital of Moldova’s Railways to reorganize the area and to install more beds for patients so that the state funds are used efficiently.

The same day the Ministry offered ten wheelchairs to war veterans.
