Voting was generally organized efficiently, Promo-LEX

During the election day, voting at the polling stations overseen by the Observation Mission of Promo-LEX was generally organized efficiently. The state automated information system “Elections” malfunctioned sporadically. As regards the suspicions about offering of rewards and organized transportation of voters, these referred in particular to the voters from the Transnistrian region, IPN reports, quoting the Mission’s findings presented on November 16.

After processing the reports received from the short-term observers who monitored voting at 608 polling places, there were recorded 251 incidents. By extrapolation, the estimated number of incidents at national level (based on a sample of 608 polling stations) is of 734, up from the 489 incidents estimated in the first round of voting, said the head of the Observation Mission Pavel Postica.

Promo-LEX noted the civic activism of the voters even in times of a pandemic, with the turnout being higher than in 2016, especially at the polling stations established abroad. The civic activism of the Moldovans abroad was shadowed by the utilization of all the ballots available at polling stations – by 5,000 ballots at each of them. Seven out-of-country polling stations ran out of ballots before the end of the voting time. In this connection, Promo-LEX requests the authorities and the politicians to take alternative voting measures.
