President Vladimir Voronin has given the rank of police general major to deputy minister of Interior Valentin Zubic, reads a communique issued by the presidency and quoted by Info-Prim Neo reports. Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN) president Serafim Urecheanu, and AMN parliamentarian, Ion Plesca, asked to punish Valentin Zubic for breeching the presumption of innocence and for slander in the file on the alleged preparation of the deputy speaker of the Parliament, Iurie Rosca. The Liberal Party (PL) asked for his dismissal after Valentin Zubic had informed the Parliament in October 16, 2008, that the PL members would have beaten one another at a protest staged by the party in Balti town on October 5.
