Health insurance will be voluntary for people seeking asylum in Moldova. People will be able to choose their coverage, types of services and healthcare providers. A draft law to this effect was passed by lawmakers in final reading on Thursday, IPN reports.
Voluntary health insurance is о solution that supports not only the health needs but also the financial and personal autonomy of asylum seekers, giving them greater freedom of choice according to their particular situation.
The draft also means that asylum seekers will be covered by the compulsory health insurance system for employment through individual employment contracts.
The changes also cover the provision of temporary protection. The current two-year limit will be abolished. It will also establish a flexible mechanism for the application of temporary protection, which can be used promptly to respond to the needs of refugees in Ukraine.
