Volume of Moldovan exports diminished in January by 40%
The exports of goods in January 2007 counted USD 73.7 mln, by 38.8% less than in December 2006, at the same time recording a growth compared with January 2006, the National Bureau Statistics reports.
The amount of exports directed to CIS diminished by 31.2% in comparison with January 2006. Exports to EU increased by 38.3% compared with the same period of 2006.
Among the first 11 countries that contributed 81.8% of the total amount of exports are Romania (with a 60% growth), Italy (with a 29% growth), Russian Federation (+47.1%), Ukraine (+12%), Germany (+80%), France (+5.2%), UK (+110%), Turkey (+11%), Poland (+77.3%), Belarus (+77%).
The biggest volume of exports were reported by the textiles industry (a growth of 34.9%), food industry (+42%), vegetables, drinks and tobacco, machinery and electronic equipment (+110%), oil (of animal and vegetal origin), footwear, hats, umbrellas and various building materials.
The imports of the goods in January 2007 decreased by 39.7% in comparison with December 2006 and increased by 40% in comparison with January 2006. The imports of goods from CIS have risen by 22.7% and that from EU countries by 50%, thus increasing their quota from 14.9% in January 2006 to 17.8% in January 2007.
In consequence the country’s economy has recorded a deficit of USD 123.6 mln, by USD 50 mln more than in the same month of 2006. The rate of covering imports by exports was of 37.3% in comparison to 47.5% in January 2006.
