The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky celebrates his birthday on Saturday, January 25. The Ukrainian leader turns 47, IPN reports.
Volodymyr Zelensky was born in the city of Krivoi Rog, Dnipropetrovsk, in 1978. His father was a doctor of science, his mother an engineer. In 1995-2000, he studied at the Kyiv National Economic University, specializing in Jurisprudence.
Zelensky became famous in the 90s, thanks to his participation in the comedy television show KVK. His team "Kvartal 95" quickly gained popularity, and Zelensky became one of the most famous humorists in the post-Soviet space. In 2003, "Kvartal 95" turned into a full-fledged production company, which created TV shows, films and series, according to the NTA television station of Ukraine.
One of the most emblematic works of Volodymyr Zelensky was the series "Servant of the People”, where the comedian played the role of a history teacher, who unexpectedly became president.
In 2018, Volodymyr Zelensky announced his intention to run for president of Ukraine. He won with over 73% of the vote. His opponent, the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, garnered more than 24% of the poll.
After Russia's invasion in February 2022, Zelenskyy gained the support of a series of countries. In the same year, international publications named him "Man of the Year" for his role in Ukraine's fight against Russia’s aggression, Ukrainian media said.
