The Communist parliamentary group will not vote in favor of the Alliance for European Integration’s candidate for head of state, the Communist Party head Vladimir Voronin told the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova Asif Chaudhry in a meeting, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the PCRM. Vladimir Voronin said that his team is united despite the multiple attempts to corrupt, intimidate and blackmail the Communist lawmakers into voting in Marian Lupu as President of Moldova. He also said that from economic, social and political viewpoints, the situation in Moldova is extremely difficult. “Moldova needs a neutral head of state that would strengthen the political forces in order to ensure stability, development and prosperity. But this is practically impossible if Marian Lupu is elected as head of state,” Vladimir Voronin stated. According to the PCRM’s press service, the U.S. Ambassador said he follows attentively the developments in Moldova’s political sphere. Asif Chaudhry stressed that all the political forces in Moldova should make effort and identify a viable solution to the political crisis.
