Vladimir Voronin to participate at the summit of the Heads of State from the Baltic and Black Sea Regions

On May 4, the president Vladimir Voronin will participate at the summit of the Heads of State from the Baltic and Black Sea Regions that will take place in Vilnius in the period during May 3-5. Voronin will present a speech on the subject “Solving frozen conflicts in the South-Eastern Europe”. Other subjects to be discussed at the Summit are: “The transatlantic agenda of the South-Eastern Europe: extending the democracy zone”, “Europe and the new democracies”, “The role of NATO, ensuring a background for consolidating democracy”. The head of state will have joint meetings with the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), the General Secretary of the Council of Europe, Javier Solana and with the US vice-president Richard B. Cheney and with other participants at the forum. At the summit are expected the General Secretary of NATO, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, the president of Georgia, Mihail Saakasvili, the president of the republic of Azerbaidjan, Iham Aliev, the president of Ukraine, Victor Iuscenko, the president of Bulgaria, Gheorghi Parvanov, the president of the republic of Estonia, Arnold Ruutel, the president of Armenia, Robert Kocearian, the president of Romania, Traian Basescu, the president of Poland, Lech Kaczynski, the president of Latvia, Vaira Vike-Freiberga, as well as officials from Austria, Denmark, Germany, Swiss, Finland, Spain, France, Belgium and Great Britain.
