Vladimir Voronin optimistic that head of state will be elected
The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said he wants the head of state to be elected on December 16 and shares the optimism of the PL and PDM. He stressed he does not yet know if he will take part in the elections, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Vladimir Voronin, the PCRM has not yet decided whether to put forward a candidate for the presidency or not. All the decisions will be taken at party level, in the plenary meeting of the PCRM. They will also consider voting for Marian Lupu.
“We are a team and must decide in concert. I cannot decide myself. I have my opinion, but some do not agree with it. I will say more after December 16,” said the Communist leader.
The Liberal Party head Mihai Ghimpu earlier this week said he is optimistic about the election of the head of state as he was assured by the Democratic leader Marian Lupu that there are enough votes to elect the President.
The head of state is elected by the votes of at least 61 MPs of the 101.
