Vladimir Voronin is in favour of stepping up legislative initiatives related to EU-Moldova Action Plan
President Vladimir Voronin said that the legislative initiatives related to the implementation of the EU-Moldova Action Plan should be developed. At a meeting on the Action Plan, the head of state said that the Plan is first of all a system of obligations of the country’s authorities towards the citizens as well as a plan for modernizing the state and reaching the European Union standards.
We must make every effort for the indicators in Moldova in such areas as corruption fighting, creation of a favourable investment climate, improvement of the judicial system to be much better, Vladimir Voronin said quoted by the presidential press service.
The head of state said that Moldova should also make progress in creating conditions for an independent press, in insuring greater transparency in observing human rights.
According to Voronin, the adoption of a special law on assemblies is of special importance. This law will remove all the existent interpretations about such sensitive matters as the right to assembly.
Vladimir Voronin stressed that Moldova should maintain a continuous dialogue with the European Union member states and with the European Commission.
The opening of the EU Common Visa Application Centre in Moldova, the visa facilitation agreement, the asymmetric trade regime, the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine – all are important decisions concerning Moldova taken by the European Union. We are obliged to follow this road in continuation, in the same responsible, consistent and honest way, Vladimir Voronin said.
