Vladimir Voronin is clumsy in his wish to become member of delegation to PACE, political analysts

Vladimir Voronin is clumsy in his wish to become a member of the delegation of the Moldovan legislature to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). This is shameful for a former head of state who had governed the country for over eight years, consider political analysts Petru Bogatu, Nicolae Negru and Valeriu Saharneanu. The quoted sources said that Voronin’s claims have degenerated into petty wishes for a man who had ruled the country for over eight years. A former head of state who respects himself wouldn’t have claimed such a post. His gesture is lamentable. During a program on the radio station “Vocea Basarabiei”, the analysts said that by being a member of the delegation to the PACE, Voronin wants to gain additional immunity as he is afraid that he could remain without parliamentary immunity and legal cases would be opened against him. He wants to have a ‘legal door’ for leaving abroad at least twice a year or even running away from Moldova. Voronin hopes to be protected by the PACE immunity, but he does not know that if a delegate is accused of corruption and flagrant violations of the legislation in their country, the PACE deprives this delegate of immunity immediately. “Voronin’s wish to be a member of the delegation in order to obtain the PACE immunity is only a hypothesis. If this hypothesis does not come true, Voronin’s wish is even clumsier,” the three opinion leaders said. According to them, the Alliance for European Integration delays the creation of the permanent delegation to the PACE for the third week. The PACE Secretariat agreed to allow a temporary delegation of the Moldovan Parliament to participate in the September 28 meeting of the PACE. The three journalists describe the behavior of the new parliamentary Opposition, of the parliamentary group of the Communists Party, as irritating, nonprofessional and arrogant, with the statements made by the Communist MPs in the Parliament showing rather a frustration. “There is inexplicable fear and frustration. It is something hereditary for the Communists Party. If the PCRM does not overcome this stage, they will self destroy themselves.” The analysts consider that the Communist MPs are confused and hesitant and do not know how to act in the future vote. They have not made a decision yet. They are looking for an answer or waiting for instructions. They are used to behave only as they are told to. The discussion on the Communists’ behavior at the Parliament’s sittings was generated by the hostility with which they treated the Filat Government invested last Friday. The opinion leaders say, an Opposition can criticize the government program, but then should congratulate the new executive and wish it good luck as the Moldovan people include supporters of the Communists as well.
