Vladimir Voronin discharges Sergiu Mocanu from presidential advisor office
Sergiu Mocanu, advisor for special tasks to President Vladimir Voronin, has been dismissed by presidential decree on Tuesday, June 26.
According to a press statement from the President’s Office, Voronin has signed the decree on the dismissal of Sergiu Mocanu from the office of advisor for special tasks “following his notification of resignation”, without any further details.
Sergiu Mocanu was appointed as counsellor for special tasks in May, 2005, this post being created specially for his appointment. Mocanu, 44, started his political career as a party activist in the People’s Front (currently the Christian-Democratic People’s Party), and served as editor-in-chief of the “Tara” newspaper. He was a deputy in the previous Parliament, leaving the PPCD because of some disagreements and joined the Party of Rebirth and Reconciliation headed by Mircea Snegur.
