Vladimir Țurcanu, the Romanian People's Party candidate, said that one of the first provisions he will sign as mayor will be the dismantling of speed bumps in Chișinău. In a press briefing, the candidate stated that the speed bumps "have ceased to perform their primary functions".
According to Vladimir Țurcanu, the speed bumps "have become obstacles on the road, which most drivers try to bypass by driving on the opposite lane, thus increasing the likelihood of accidents". He added that "medical emergency vehicles in order to avoid traumatizing their patients bypass the speed bumpers, creating unpredictable situations". The candidate argued that the speed bumpers do not comply with standards and said that he will replace them with better ones that are not as narrow and as high as present ones. According to the mayoral hopeful, current speed bumpers were installed without a tender, while their cost amounted to 5 million lei.
In another news, Vladimir Țurcanu said that his team of candidates for CMC has carried out an investigation, which points out that in recent years additional storeys were built on top of dozens of housing blocks in Chișinău municipality, without building permits, valid technical appraisal or compliant urban certificates. He added that it is necessary to check a number of gas stations located near the Bâc river, which were built in violation of environmental norms. Many do not have leakage protective layers, while those that do, might not comply with standards. Other gas stations lack a sewage treatment plant.
