Vladimir Putin suggests temporary administration in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed introducing a temporary administration in Ukraine, which would facilitate the organization of democratic elections in Kiev, and then start negotiations for a peace treaty, IPN reports.

“In principle, of course, a temporary administration could be introduced in Ukraine under the auspices of the U.N, the United States, European countries and our partners. This would be in order to hold democratic elections and bring to power a capable government enjoying the trust of the people and then to start talks with them about a peace treaty," Vladimir Putin said, quoted by Interfax.

With a Ukrainian government formed under such conditions, Putin believes that it will be possible to sign "legitimate documents that will be recognized around the world and will be reliable," said
dw.

"But that's just one of the options. I'm not saying that there aren't others. But this is one of the options and such a practice exists in the work of the UN," the Kremlin leader noted.

Earlier, the Russian president repeatedly stated that he does not consider Volodymyr Zelensky is the legitimate president of Ukraine as the presidential election that was supposed to be held in Kyiv in 2024 did not take place on time.

Ukrainian law prohibits the holding of any elections while martial law is in force.

The Ukrainian side did not comment on Moscow's proposal.

In the U.S., it was not overlooked. "Ukraine's governance is determined by its constitution and the people of the country," a spokesman for the U.S. National Security Council said.
