Vlad Plahotniuc: Recognition of Moldova’s EU accession prospects will stimulate implementation of reforms
The recognition of Moldova’s EU accession prospects will significantly stimulate the implementation of reforms, First Deputy Head of the Parliament of Moldova Vlad Plahotniuc said in his speech delivered at the opening of the ninth meeting of Heads of Parliament of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), which is taking place in Montenegro, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the legislature’s press service.
Vlad Plahotniuc asked the countries of the region to provide support and show solidarity as regards the provision of EU accession prospects as a powerful instrument for encouraging reforms and as a stimulus needed for publicly supporting these reforms. “For Moldova, as for most of the member states, the participation in the regional cooperation processes in Southeastern Europe represents an important and indispensable element on the path to European integration and an opportunity to assert itself as a reliable partner in the region,” said Vlad Plahotniuc.
For his part, Ranko Krivocapic, Head of the Parliament of Montenegro, which holds the Chairmanship of the SEECP, said the member states of the South-East European Cooperation Process must assume the commitment to continue and improve interparliamentary cooperation that is an indispensable part of the efforts to come closer to the EU.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Vlad Plahotniuc had bilateral meetings with the Head of the Parliament of Montenegro Ranko Krivokapic and the Head of the Parliament of Macedonia Trajko Veljanoski. They discussed different subjects, including the strengthening of the bilateral relations, especially at parliamentary level, extension of the bilateral juridical framework, development of the bilateral economic relations and liberalization of the visa regime. Vlad Plahotniuc made an approach to Montenegro to join the Common Visa Issuing Center in Chisinau.
