Moldovan pugilist Vlad Gavriliuc secured at least the bronze medal at the European Youth Boxing Championship that is taking place in Poland. In the quarterfinals, the athlete trained by Petru Caduc beat Eljan Gafarli of Azerbaijan 3-0, IPN reports.

Gavriliuc, who is competing in the 52kg class, will contend for a place in the final with Armenian pugilist Vahe Badalayn. He trains at the Specialized Boxing School in Grimancauti, which will host the national championship on December 8-12.

The other Moldovan pugilists who took part in the championship were eliminated  earlier: Daniil Platonovschi (49 kg), Dumitru Gumen (75 kg) and Cristian Constantinov (81 kg) after the first stage; Vlad Tugui (64 kg) - in the 1/8 finals, while European youth champion of last year Dorin Bucsa (60 kg) - in the quarterfinals and ranked fifth.
