Vlad Filat said he will advise his mates from the administration of the Liberal-Democratic Party (PLDM) not to compete in the July 11 snap parliamentary elections and to call on the party’s sympathizers to support the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS). The former Liberal-Democratic leader said representatives of the PLDM negotiated the formation of an electoral bloc together with the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA), but the discussions failed as the latter aimed to “humiliate” the PLDM, IPN reports.

Interviewed in the talk show “Forth Power” on N4 channel, Vlad Filat said he renounced the post of leader of the PLDM at end-April as he didn’t want his name to be invoked in the upcoming election campaign. But he does not intend to withdraw from the party and from politics. “I didn’t want my name to be used in these elections too as an electoral subject. I remain part of the PLDM for now. I will not be a simple member and will become involved in accordance with my mandate of member of the National Political Council,” he stated.

Speaking about the failed negotiations on the formation of an electoral bloc between the PLDM and PPPDA, Vlad Filat said the members of the PLDM were offered places at the end of the list of candidates. “The goal was not to establish a political partnership, but to humiliate us,” he stated.

According to Vlad Filat, the PLDM should now refrain from taking part in elections so as not to disperse the votes of the electors of the right. “As the formation of an electoral bloc or joint participation together with the PPPDA failed, I think the PLDM should not take part in these elections. I consider the PAS has real chances to obtain a majority of seats. It would be a premiere if a party of the right gains a majority. It is judicious not to take part and to call on the electors to vote for this party,” stated Vlad Filat.
