Ex-Premier Vlad Filat formulated a series of proposals for remedying the serious epidemiological situation in Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a message placed by him on a social networking site.
Vlad Filat noted that the healthcare system will soon experience a collapse if the current tendency persists. It is now essential to agree from zero new measures, a plan of action that would be implemented in stages, in the short, medium and long terms.
“First of all, the politicians should exclude themselves from the command and decision-making process and allow professionals to decide, while the political class should only provide resources.
Secondly, we need the foreign expertise of countries that overcame the pandemic successfully and with fewer casualties because of COVID-19. We must ask experts of EU member states to help us design measures and procedures that need to be followed;
Thirdly, we should the foreign partners to offer us financial support for fighting the novel coronavirus. Alone we will be unable to cope and risk transforming the Republic of Moldova into a hotbed of Europe;
Fourthly, a massive awareness-raising campaign is needed to inform the population about the danger posed by COVID-19. Without conscious population that obeys the restrictions and prevention measures, everything will be in vain;
Fifthly, and this is the most important point, we need unity. We should make common cause in front of a danger that affects us all at least once, regardless of the political options,” urged the former Prime Minister.
He also assessed the performance of the authorities and the parliamentary opposition in the management of the public health crisis so far, saying this is below any level.
“I avoided pronouncing on the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic as long as I could. I considered that those who should decide the measures to counteract the effects of this very dangerous virus are specialists…,” wrote Vlad Filat.
