The PLDM will not change its candidate for the post of Prime Minister and insists that this post should be held by Vlad Filat, the head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said after the party’s consultations with President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.
”We consider that Vlad Filat has all the abilities and skills needed to lead a new governmental team. We took into account all the complications of the created political equation and hope that there will be a majority to support the candidacy of the Premier,” said Valeriu Strelet.
He also said that within the 15-day period stipulated by the Constitution, Vlad Filat will be able to gather the team he needs and to present in Parliament a program that will be supported by at least 51 lawmakers.
Valeriu Strelet said that Nicolae Timofti expressed his concerns about the impossibility of reaching a compromise and agreeing a candidate who would enjoy political support and would be voted in by Parliament.
Nicolae Timofti started new consultations with the parties of the former AEI so as to identity a candidate for premiership. Earlier, the head of state pledged to present the candidate in Parliament on April 5.
