Vlad Filat: Government will try to deal with problems of Glodeni sugar factory workers

The Government intervened when it was asked and will continue to intervene depending on its capacity to resolve these problems, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said, referring to the protest staged by employees of the Glodeni sugar factory, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The problems faced by these people derive from the way in which the court decisions are implemented. We daily encounter such problems that point to the quality of justice in Moldova. My colleagues talked to the protesters, who handed over their demands,” Vlad Filat told the press. The employees say they have not received their salaries since June 2009. The factory is undergoing an insolvency process. There are 2,500 tonnes of sugar to the value of 35 million lei stored at the factory, which represent its assets. But the sugar was sequestrated. Legal cases were started against a number of the factory's employees over attempt to recover their pays by force. The protesters said they will picket the Government, the Economic Court of Appeals, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime.
