The Democratic Party’s spokesman Vitalie Gamurari said the Constitutional Court’s decision concerning the impossibility for the President to suggest a candidate for premiership is rather logical. According to him, the Court abides by the concept of efficiency of the functioning of the state and Parliament.

“As long as the administrative bodies of Parliament are not elected, we cannot speak about the fielding of a candidate for Prime Minister who will not be enjoy support in the legislature,” Vitalie Gamurari was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Country” on Vocea Basarabiei TV channel.

As to the rumors that the CC is politicized and acts in the government’s interests, Vitalie Gamurari said the situation in the country changed a lot. “The law is a conservative subject, but there is the Constitutional Court whose duty is to interpret or explain what the authors of the Constitution wanted to say based on the current realities. And the Court clearly specified the stages and what should be done next,” stated the PDM’s spokesman. According to him, the ball is now in the court of the politicians who should take into account the created situation.

Journalist Valeriu Reniță noted a coalition between the Bloc ACUM and the Party of Socialists is highly improbable, bit is not impossible. It cannot be said that negotiations are now held between the two entities. If such a coalition is formed, things will worsen a lot as regards cooperation at international level.

He said Moldova is in a pre-crisis situation and the ratio of forces in case of snap legislative elections will not change dramatically and there will be the same problems that cannot be solved now.

On May 15, the Constitutional Court decided that the President may not nominate a prime ministerial candidate without a Parliament that has its leadership elected. The impossibility of Parliament to assemble in the absence of a body to convene it renders the President incapable of making the nomination.
