The visits paid by the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Director of the Office of Eastern European Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Bradley A. Freden to Chisinau show there is interest in the current political developments in Moldova, political pundit Victor Ciobanu stated in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel. He noted that each of the three foreign officials brought messages for the participants in the meetings they had, IPN reports.

Victor Ciobanu said he didn’t see contradictions between the statements made by Johannes Hahn and Dmitry Kozak. The EU Commissioner said snap elections should be avoided as the financing of the IMF and later of the EU will be suspended. Dmitry Kozak said almost the same, that a coalition should be formed, but this coalition will not be a long-term one, judging by his message. This is a logical approach given the profound divergences existing between the programs and geopolitical orientations of the PSRM and the Bloc ACUM.

Political commentator Roman Mihăeș said he expected that Johannes Hahn will have a more concrete approach as regards the formation of a government coalition, but he stated that all the three entities – the PSRM, the PDM and the Bloc ACUM – should take part in the formation of an alliance. “This way he did away with the rumors that the PDM is not accepted in Europe following the report on the Republic of Moldova presented by the European Parliament. He said a key sentence: we are interested in stability in the Republic of Moldova,” noted Roman Mihăeș.

According to him, the EU no longer thinks about Moldova’s integration into the European Community. It wants stability to exist in Moldova and any majority would suit it. “The U.S. and the EU want a hybrid administration in Moldova, which is a pro-European party and a pro-Russian party in power. What is important is to respect the parity of interests,” stated the expert. He added that the EU and the U.S. accept any combination - PSRM and ACUM or PSRM and PDM – while Russia accepts only one variant: PSRM+ACUM.

On June 3, the political parties had in Chisinau meetings with Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Director of the Office of Eastern European Affairs of the U.S. Department of State Bradley A. Freden and Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak. After the discussions, the three officials said a stable Government is needed in Chisinau, but a temporary coalition is also welcome if a consensus for a long term cannot be reached.
