Visible progress has been made in implementing the nine measures proposed by the European Commission on Moldova’s path to seek EU membership, declared Nicu Popescu, Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
During a meeting of the Governmental Commission for European Integration, Popescu admitted “slight delays” on some actions, but said that many of them have been already implemented.
“This is the first meeting of the Government Commission for European Integration after Moldova received EU candidate status. We are here to revitalize the format of the Commission and arrange the processes related to the Government, authorities and all the responsible factors participating in the negotiations. In this context, we must mention that a number of important actions have already been taken on the presidential platform of the National Commission for European Integration”, said Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, quoted in a press release issued by the Government.
“One thing is certain: the pace at with which we will move in the implementation of all the points and the achievement of the values that motivated us to submit the application for European integration depends on us”, Gavrilița added.
Several topics were included on the agenda, including the analysis of the implementation of the Action Plan proposed by the European Commission, the confirmation of the Association Agenda for 2021-2027, to be adopted in December, and the creation of 35 working groups for aligning the national legislation with the European one. The members of the Commission also spoke about the progress made in increasing the capacity of the institutions, by providing staff responsible for the planning, elaboration, monitoring and evaluation of public policies, so that they correspond to EU standards.
