Violeta Ivanov: Society has been misinformed in recent past for sake of snap elections

Some of the MPs and parties misinformed society during the last few days, for the sake of snap parliamentary elections, about the laws on the functioning of languages and the Republican Stadium, IPN quoted MP of the For Moldova platform Violeta Ivanov as saying in a press briefing.

According to her, the way in which the politicians used the language issue to generate the people’s discontent and to take them to the streets shows the hysteria and despair of these politicians. The citizens should know that the bill on the functioning of languages that was adopted by Parliament last week referred to the functioning and regulation of all the languages spoken on the country’s territory.  “All the citizens should enjoy equal access to information, even if they speak other languages too. In parallel, the authorities should assume the responsibility for ensuring the proper studying of the official language by the national minorities and for creating the necessary conditions for protecting and developing the languages of ethnic minorities,” stated the MP.

In another development, Violeta Ivanov said Parliament last week voted to transfer back the site of the former Republican Stadium under the public ownership of the state. At the suggestion of the platform’s MPs, there was made an amendment stipulating that only sports and cultural facilities can be constructed on this site, not yet residential buildings or commercial areas.

She noted that the MPs more often resort to manipulation and misinformation in the hope that they can consolidate a part of the population against rather important subjects for the country, against the constructive, responsible MPs who make effort and make compromises exclusively in the people’s interests.

“How hypocritical one should be to think about narrow political interests in this rather difficult situation? What is the reason for the chaos you cause, dear mates and party leaders? Why do you insist on an agenda that promotes fake news, misinforms the citizens and divides society? Was the return of the SIS under parliamentary control worth your efforts to incite hatred? The MPs who are against know very well the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, namely that the SIS in a parliamentary republic obeys the legislature, not the President,” stated Violeta Ivanov, noting the MPs of For Moldova are ready for snap elections.
