Viktor Yushchenko likely to visit Chisinau soon
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is likely to come to Chisinau very soon, Info-Prim Neo reports quoting sources from the Ukrainian embassy to Moldova. This can happen provided Ukraine considers favorable the results of the visit to Chisinau to be paid by Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko, especially regarding the accomplishment of the schedule on solving the key issues in the Moldovan-Ukrainian relationships.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister will start his visit to Chisinau on Monday, April 14. He will meet President Vladimir Voronin, Prime-Minister Zinaida Greceanai and Deputy Premier and Minister of External Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan.
Now it is known that enhanced attention will be paid to the accomplishment of solving the key issues in the Moldovan-Ukrainian relations. The question is about mutually recognizing the ownership rights over the estate of the former Soviet Union on the territories of the two countries, and about concluding the process of establishing the state border between Moldova and Ukraine. At the meeting with Andrei Stratan, they are to sign the joint letters of the heads of foreign policy departments of the two countries addressed to the Secretary General of the EU Council, to the EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana and to the member of the European Commission and the European Commissioner for Foreign Relations Benita Ferrero-Waldner requesting assistance in marking the central (Transnistrian) segment of the common border. Also the Accord between Moldova and Ukraine on cooperating in insuring the rights of the national minorities is expected to be sealed.
During the Minister’s visit, the talks will focus on settling the Transnistrian conflict, taking into account the importance of the Ukrainian contribution and of the initiatives of the Ukrainian President in this process. They will also tackle matters of bilateral cooperation as to the European integration, the perspectives of interacting within international organizations, including the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and GUAM, and concerning the cultural-human sphere.
So, there are chances that the Ukrainian President arrives in Chisinau the soonest possible, provided the sides reach mutual agreement concerning the matters from within the Schedule of solving key-importance problems in the Moldovan-Ukrainian relationships.
