Video registration system in polling stations will work throughout election day

The video registration system in polling stations that are not connected to the Internet will be functional and active only during the election day, since the start of the electoral operations to open the station until the end of the vote count and tabulation process at the station. The system was approved by the Central Election Commission (CEC) on June 2, IPN reports.

According to the CEC, the video registration system in polling stations is an additional measure to secure and ensure the transparency of the voting process and electoral operations on the election day, including against eventual electoral frauds. The system will not be used during voting with the mobile ballot box and at the voter’s place of stay.

The surveillance cameras at polling stations must not affect the secrecy of voting and the intimacy of voters and their personal data and will thus not be installed in polling booths. The images will not be transmitted online, but will be stored on a separate device. In case of eventual electoral disputes, the images could be used as evidence in the examination of these disputes
