Victor Ciobanu elected new leader of PPCD
Victor Ciobanu was voted in as the head of the Christian-Democratic People’s Party (PPCD), instead of Iurie Rosca, in the party’s Congress on February 20, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the PPCD.
Until the congress, Victor Ciobanu had headed the PPCD’s youth organization. He was proposed for the post by the former leader of the party Iurie Rosca. For his part, Victor Ciobanu suggested appointing 15 leading representatives of the Christian-Democrat youth as deputy heads. Dinu Turcanu was re-confirmed as secretary general of the PPCD. Andrei Sheremet and Alexandru Repida were designated as deputy secretaries general.
In the elections of April 2009, the PPCD polled 3% of the vote and did not enter the Parliament for the first time. In the elections of November 2010, the party won 9,038 votes or over 0.5%.
