The PLDM's candidate for mayor of Chisinau Victor Bodiu said that the Liberal Democratic Party is the target of unprecedented attacks and intimidation. In a press briefing on May 3, he stated there are forces that want to damage the PLDM's image in the election campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The attacks on the PLDM, which started even before the election campaign, point to the existence of strategies that ignore the principles of an open and honest competition,” said Victor Bodiu. He gave several examples. He mentioned the appearance of the phantom publication “Ziarul de Chisinau” that used the logo and characteristic elements of “Ziarul de Garda” and contained articles that misinformed the public about the party's work. According to Victor Bodiu, eight election posters of the PLDM have been destroyed since the start of the campaign. On April 28, the secretary of the PLDM's local organization in Buiucani was attacked and stabbed by individuals in the party's office. “The opponents ignore none of the electoral meetings and events of the PLDM. The Communist Party and Dodon gain advantages when the PLDM's actions are discredited. It seems that the election campaigns of some of the runners are based only on insinuations and intimidation,” Victor Bodiu said. He stated that he does not know who the provokers are, but immediately after the briefing he will go to sign the code of conduct proposed by the Central Election Commission and called on other contenders to do the same.
