Members of the Movement “Force of War Veterans for the Nation and Country” express their support for President Maia Sandu, the Supreme Commander of the armed forces. These call on the people to ignore the calls of political groups to join in protests. According to them, the goal of these is to cause destabilization.
In a news conference hosted by IPN, Andrei Eremia, deputy manager of the public organization “Force of Veterans”, made a call to the citizens. “Yes, we know that the times are hostile. We have a war in the neighborhood, poverty in the country, but we should not yield up to the manipulation of groups of people, political movements for being attracted in causing turmoil and devastation. We know what happened on April 7, 2009. They started with poverty slogans and how did things end? With victims and destroyed state institutions,” said Andrei Eremia.
Valeriu Sava, the head of the local organization in Anenii Noi, said President Maia Sandu should know that the veterans stand by her. The forces that during 30 years had been in power and caused the bankruptcy of banks and brought the economy to its knees, with many of the leaders of these groups running away, are now being reactivated. “We want to tell them to calm down. We know that they have planned actions, but we have our eye on them. It’s time to leave the Republic of Moldova alone. We want our children, grandchildren to live in a prosperous country, in the European Union,” stated Valeriu Sava.
Ion Zubco, head of the local organization in Ștefan Vodă, said the veterans condemn Russia’s war. “I’m against those who divide our country and guide us towards a wrong path. The problems mentioned by Missis Maia Sandu in a news conference yesterday are real and cannot be ignored as long as we have a source of instability and separatism called Transnistria, which during 30 years has provoked and blackmailed us. We, the war veterans, support Supreme Commander Maia Sandu,” he noted.
The veterans voiced hope that the new Premier and the new Cabinets will be on citizens’ side and that there will be efficient cooperation with the veterans. “I address the future Government, the candidate for Prime Minister. The veterans need state support and assistance. Mister candidate for Premier, we hope that the Parliament will soon vote in the new Canine and we will meet to agree a roadmap that would help solve at least a part of the problems faced by the veterans,” said Constantin Covrig, the manager of the public organization “Force of Veterans”.
