Veterans and internally displaced people could buy distributed apartments

The veterans, persons who remained with disabilities as a result of war and the internally displaced people from the eastern districts of Moldova who were affected by the military conflict for defending the independence and territorial integrity of Moldova will be able to buy the apartments distributed to them before the raised loan is fully repaid. In the May 24 sitting, Parliament ratified Amendment No. 1 to the framework agreement between the Republic of Moldovan and the Council of Europe Development Bank that was signed in Chisinau this April, IPN reports.

Currently, Annex No. 1 to the agreement provides that the privatization of apartments from buildings erected based on this agreement is possible only after the raised loan is fully repaid, which is not earlier than in 2027. At the same time, under the law on dwellings, the persons who live in apartments that can be privatized can buy these by May 31, 2021.

Under the framework agreement, the Council of Europe Development Bank will provide a loan of €4.9 million to the Government of the Republic of Moldova for building homes for socially vulnerable groups of people. Based on this, the Chisinau Municipal Council on August 12, 2008, through the agency of the Ministry of Finance, took out a loan repayable in 20 years, with a grace period of five years. The money was used to build two apartment buildings, at  21/5 N. Milescu Spataru St and at 9/2 Liviu Deleanu St.
