The head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, is optimistic about the progress of the Interpol case, expecting an answer by June this year. "Until then, as usual, I cannot comment much," Dragalin told a press conference, IPN reports.

The PA chief has been sued over some comments she made in connection with the dossier. Veronica Dragalin limited herself to saying that people who hide from prosecutors should be deprived of the right to use the Moldovan justice system as a weapon against prosecutors or whoever they want to use it against.

Asked whether she was referring to former SIS chief Vitalie Pirlog, Dragalin said she was not referring to any specific person. "There is a very long list of people from Moldova who are sending armies of lawyers to fight in courts for their interests while they are on the beach or elsewhere," the head of the anti-corruption prosecutor's office added.

Vitalie Pirlog has sued Veronica Dragalin to defend his honor and professional reputation following the publication of information allegedly targeting him in his capacity as former president of the Interpol Commission for the Control of Interpol Files. In relation to these allegations, the head of the PA declined to comment.

Since April 2024, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has been investigating a corruption scheme that affected Interpol's decisions to block Red Notices and International wanted notices. On the basis of the evidence and information gathered in this case, as well as other new circumstances, a request was made to Interpol in October 2024 to review the decision to reject the Republic of Moldova's request for an international wanted notice for former democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc, for whom an arrest warrant is issued for the crime of money laundering in connection with his role in the banking scheme that took place in the Republic of Moldova in 2013-2015, which took over a billion dollars out of the banking system and, consequently, the state budget.
