A car was hit by a train near Sipoteni village of Calarasi district. Contacted by IPN, police officer on guard at the Calarasi Police Inspectorate Gheorghe Botnarevschi said that allegedly, the driver ignored the traffic lights at the railway crossing and, as a result, the vehicle was struck by the train.

Ghenadie Vrabie, head of the Calarasi Police Inspectorate’s Human Resources Division, said the 26-year-old driver of the car died on the spot. He was from Seliste, Calarasi.

The train ran on the Chisinau-Moscow route.
