Veaceslav Platon suspected of tax evasion worth over 7m lei

Veaceslav Platon is investigated in a new criminal case started over tax evasion. According to the State Tax Service, as a private individual, Veaceslav Platon didn’t pay over 7 million lei taxes for the 2012-2015 fiscal period, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said the criminal proceedings were instituted based on the report compiled by the state prosecutor in September 2021. “For unclear reasons, the previous administration of the Prosecutor’s Office didn’t order to examine the prosecutor’s report, as the imperative provisions of the Penal Procedure Code stipulate, but only transmitted the report to the investigation bodies for information,” stated the institution.

It noted the actions of those in charge from the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases who committed violations will be examined and steps will be taken in accordance with the law.
