Vasile Tarlev ordered to intensify bird flu preventing actions
Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev ordered, on Wednesday, 22 February, to competent institutions to intensify the bird flu preventing actions.
According to prime Minister, once the spring comes the danger of bird flu increases, that’s why it is necessary to undertake prophylaxis and information actions of the population, at local level as well as national level.
In this sense, Vasile Tarlev ordered to Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry to implement special action plan at poultry factories of the country, and the Customs Service – to be very careful at poultry goods import. The Veterinary Service, Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as well as local public administration shall intensify their precaution activity.
„Do not think that the specialists say that everything is well, we have be immediately on the spot and not to action of the office,” the prime minister mentioned.
Greece and Italy were the first countries of the European Union where cases of bird flu were. Virus H5N1 was found at dead birds of Bulgaria, Croatia, Austria, Ukraine, Slovenia and Germany as well. Recently, Iran reported 135 dead swans because of H5N1 in northwest of the country. The deadly virus got to India, where it was identified at 50,000 dead domestic birds in the village Maharashtra. There are suspicions of avian flu: 8 persons being tested, in India.
