Vasile Spinei is positive the present government will ensure in the future the access to information

The head of the “Acces-Info” Center, Vasile Spinei is convinced of the fact the present leadership of the country will ensure the access to information in the future. He made this declaration, being solicited by Info-Prim Neo to comment the disposition of the Prime-minister Vasile Tralev to create a work group regarding the improvement of the access to information mechanism. Spinei is convinced that the government overcame the phase of hypothetical declarations regarding the access to information and the situation will change together with the creation of the work group that started already its activity. The quoted source states that access to information will not be obtained only due to the availability of the leadership of the country but also due to the fact the international organisms insist upon it. Spinei says that journalist must acknowledge the fact they benefit of new conditions for the development of their journalistic activity. The work group includes representatives of the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Informational Development, the Information and Security Service, the “Acces-Info” Center. The deputy chief of the Governments Personnel, Oleg Rotaru was named president of the group. According to the prime-minister’s disposition the work group has the goal to elaborate regulations regarding the access to information about the ministries’ and other public authorities’ activity, to elaborate the instructing mechanism of the public servants and implementing the positive practices in the activity of public bodies. Rotaru added the Government aims to elaborate a functional mechanism that could be implemented, not a fictive document. Regarding the time limits of the mechanism’s elaboration, the quoted source expressed his hope it will happen soon, but depending on the activities performed by the work group the terms could alter between 1 and 2 months. The first proposals for improving the access to information could be formulated at the end of May. Several months ago, Vasile Tarlev promised the journalists at an unofficial meeting that he will institute a real access to information mechanism. For accomplishing this goal he remitted a disposition by which he named several persons responsible for delivering the public interest information. An experiment made by the „Acces-Info” Center proved that the mechanism is not working.
