The first congress of the Political Party “Democracy at Home” that was held on the Independence Day, August 27, elected Vasile Costiuc as chairman of the party, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I will not disappoint you. I will be as a tank as things will not develop otherwise,” said the new political leader. According to him, August 27 was chosen as the day of the first congress not accidentally. “A new young generation that wants to live at home will start work from today,” Vasile Costiuc said. “Until now, the young people did not have the possibility of joining forces and forming a youth team, but now they can. They will be able to offer an alternative to governance in this country.” The congress adopted the statutes and symbols of the party and constituted the executive bodies. The new party aims, among others, to promote the adoption of the Law on Lustration that would give a new impetus to democracy in Moldova and would enable the young people to contribute to decision making. The party intends to take part in the future elections. All the documents needed to register the party were submitted to the Ministry of Justice. The Political Party “Democracy at Home will not have a candidate for President as, according to its statutes, the leader of the party should be younger than 35, while the Constitution of Moldova says the candidate for the presidency must be older than 40.
