After yesterday the Central Electoral Commission refused to register the initiative group in support of MP Vasile Bolea to run for president, today he returned with a new application. The CEC now has 3 days to decide on the registration.
On Thursday, the Commission refused to register Bolea’s group, citing affiliation inconsistencies. While declaring that he would run independently, he recently participated in events where was presented as a candidate of the Victory Bloc. The CEC also noted that Bolea was a top member of the Revival Party.
This is Bolea’s third attempt to enter the presidential race. Initially he tried to register as a candidate nominated by the Victory Bloc, but the group itself was denied registration, a decision recently upheld by the Supreme Court.
Also today, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Political Party requested registration as a participant in the constitutional referendum, with the “yes” option.
