MP Vasile Bolea, nominated by the Renewal Party, and the political pundit Roman Mihaeș, nominated by the National Liberal Party, today submitted their files to be registered as candidates in the Chisinau mayoral race.
Later today, the Chisinau Electoral Council drew lots to decide their preliminary position on the ballot, with Vasile Bolea getting the 14th place, and Roman Mihăeș the 15th.
To date, 10 candidates have been registered:
1. Vasile Costiuc from the Democratia Acasa Party;
2. Ruslan Codreanu from the “Ruslan Codreanu” Electoral Bloc;
3. Constantin Butucel from the Acasa Construim Europa Party;
4. Ion Ștefăniță from the Respect Moldova Movement;
5. Diana Caraman from the Communist Party;
6. Lilian Carp from the Action and Solidarity Part;
7. Anatol Usatîi from the Party of Development and Consolidation;
8. Vadim Brînzaniuc from the European Social Democratic Party;
9. Ion Bulgac from the Coalition for Unity and Welfare; and
10. Adrian Albu from the Socialist Party.
The Council is yet to decide on the registration of Mihail Poleanschi from the Civic Congress (no. 11), Victor Chironda from the Dignity and Truth Party (no. 12), and Oleg Burlacu from the Liberal Democratic Party (13).
Mayoral and City Council candidates may apply for registration with the Chisinau Electoral Council until October 6 inclusive, with the Council having 7 days from submission to decide on the registration.
898 mayoral and 11,058 local councilor positions will be up for election across Moldova in the November 5 local general election. Campaigning will be officially allowed from October 6.
