In the Republic of Moldova, the principle of separation of powers in the state is seriously violated. Justice is the most dependent on the first two powers – legislative and executive. It practically does not function normally. That’s why everything can happen in the country, former Prime Minister Valeriu Muravschi said in the public debate: “The post of Prime Minister as a bone of contention. Why?”, which is the 48th installment of the series of debates “Development of political culture by public debates” that was organized by IPN in concert with Radio Moldova.
According to the ex-Premier, the politicians voted by the population must obey the law. “Our politicians have another view and act based on momentary interests. If the principle of separation of powers in the state functioned, each person, either President, Prime Minister, minister or MP, should answer if they broke the law because there is the third power – justice. This thing in our country does not happen. That’s why the politicians do whatever they want,” stated Muravschi.
He noted that the political organizations are not authentic parties, but limited liability companies created around a person with money. “If there is no transparency and democratic values, most of those from party lists who enter the Government or Parliament are persons attached to their leaders who want to profit. There are also upright persons, but if they do not take attitude to what is going on, I, as a citizen, cannot forgive them,” said the former Premier.
Valeriu Muravschi considers the current pro-European parties no longer have the moral right to take part in elections. “We voted for them and gave them a chance. They built the political system in such a way that they captured the state and the flows of money and marginalized the other parties and the people didn’t have an alternative in the elections. There should be a force that will rebuild Moldova: the systems, the powers in the state. In our case, these must be persons from outside the system,” he stated.
According to the former Prime Minister, a solution to the crisis faced now by Moldova is for the people to unite and to prepare for early elections. “We must unite and get ready for the next elections or nothing will change in this country. We have two big problems – fear and laziness – which brought us in the situation in which we are today. That’s why we must promote hardworking people who do not have fear and will manage to return things to normality,” said Muravschi.
