Valeria Biagiotti: We capitalize on Moldovan excellence even when promoting Italy

The ambassador claims that the objective of the events organized by the Embassy of Italy is to strengthen and capitalize on the  relations with the Republic of Moldova in all fields, as well as to make Italy known in the Republic of Moldova, starting from the areas in which it  excels: Italian cuisine, culture, design, music. Statements in this regard were made by the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, in a video interview given to the IPN Press Agency.

According to Valeria Biagiotti, some events are established directly by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and are held simultaneously throughout the Italian diplomatic network in the world. "This is the case of the event that starts today, namely Italian Cuisine Week in the World, while in October, we celebrated Italian Language Week in the world, and in March we celebrated Italian Design Day in the world," said Valeria Biagiotti.

Even when promoting Italy, the initiatives and projects supported by the Embassy of Italy in the Republic of Moldova aim to capitalize on the Moldovan excellence, with a focus on the social sector as well.

An example of promoting Moldovan excellence is the involvement of the universities in Chisinau in the Italian Design Day, as well as in the event organized on the occasion of 500 years since the demise of Leonardo da Vinci, marked recently.

Another example is the organization, during the current edition of Italian Cuisine Week in the World, of a pasta cooking master class, to be held in a placement center for children in need.

In addition, says the head of the diplomatic mission, given the excellent relations between the people of the two countries, many of the initiatives are proposed by some Italians or Moldovans, or by some of their organizations, and the Embassy is trying to support and promote them.

In the context of the supported projects, Valeria Biagiotti, mentions that Italy is happy to host, for many years, a platoon of Moldovan soldiers in the KFOR mission in Kosovo, because it has all the interest to attract, involve and support those states that want to contribute to stability and peace both in Europe and around the world. "On this occasion I would like to mention the collaboration that exists between the Italian and Moldovan carabineer forces, and the initiatives in this context have been numerous, including through the stable presence of an Italian counselor at the general headquarters of the carabineer troops in Moldova," maintains the diplomat. Also, recently, the Embassy has organized Italian language courses for Moldovan carabineers, which, according to the Embassy, will allow the collaboration between the two carabineer structures in Moldova and Italy to be further strengthened.

In other news, Valeria Biagiotti has noted that as a woman ambassador she has the opportunity to draw attention to very important issues such as gender equality or domestic violence. "This is an initiative that we are trying to promote among the women ambassadors present in the Republic of Moldova, unfortunately we have only four left, but we participate on different occasions in campaigns in this field or launch certain messages," stressed Valeria Biagiotti.

The video interview given to the IPN Press Agency by the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Moldova, Valeria Biagiotti, is part of the cycle "Relations of the Republic of Moldova with development partners", supported by Hans Seiddel German Foundation.
